How is Mariah Carey getting back in shape following the birth of her twins in April? She's working out – at the beach!

"I'm getting it in," she tells PEOPLE with a laugh of her exercise routine. "Ocean work out!" the singer Tweeted on Tuesday to accompany the photo of her splashing in the waves. "It's been a loooong time since I've been in the ocean."

And she's got a little girl who would probably like to join her. "My daughter Monroe loves the water more than me if that's possible," adds Carey.

Mariah Carey may have scored a hit with "Touch My Body," but the singer's mindset when she was pregnant with twins was more like, Don't Look at Me.

At her peak pregnancy weight, Carey, 42, was so disgusted with her physique that she refused to let even husband Nick Cannon see her unless she covered up first, she said Tuesday.

On Monday, the new mom Tweeted a photo of one of her five Jack Russell terriers doing the doggie paddle in a pool.

"Sababa!" she wrote, which loosely translates to "cool" in Hebrew.

Nick Cannon wants to keep the number of celebrities in his household to a minimum.

The America's Got Talent host, 30, says he will "absolutely not" let his 4½-month-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, follow in the famous footsteps of him and wife Mariah Carey.

"I just want them to strive for something greater than entertainment," Cannon told PEOPLE backstage after Wednesday's AGT's season finale. "I'm one of those believers in teachers, professors, heart surgeons. That's what I'm rooting for. Over the past few months, Mariah Carey has been shedding her baby weight with ocean workouts and walks with her dogs – and even though she's looking quite slim these days, her furry fitness trainers aren't cutting her any slack!

On Friday, a very svelte looking Carey Tweeted a photo of herself burning some more calories with her barking brood.

So it's no surprise that following the birth of twins Moroccan and Monroe on April 30, she had a few ideas about how she wanted their new nurseries -- yes, that's more than one -- to look.
